The peaceful and quaint neighborhood of Hyde Park is located in the downtown area of Tampa, Florida and is one of the most popular areas in the region. Despite rapid real estate development, the neighborhood has lost none of its ancient history and rustic charm.
The area is rich with history. In 1783, Cuban fisherman settled in an area near the south of Spanishtown Creek and called the place Spanishtown. Later, Henry B. Plant constructed a railroad and hotel in Tampa, which mostly comprised farmlands and homesteads at the time. He also ordered Lafayette Street (now Kennedy Boulevard) be stretched to the river and a bridge be built over it. The extended road and bridge made it easier to access Hyde Park and resulted in real estate development. In 1186, the place was named as Hyde Park.
Hyde Park is bordered by the Bayshore Boulevard, which is a prime site for health-conscious Tampa residents, with its biking and running trails. The place has so much history and many of its building are kept to their original architecture, including Bungalow, Frame and Masonry Vernacular, English Romantic Revival, Queen Anne and Classical Revival.
Hyde Park houses Hyde Park Village, a high-end commercial development, which offers a wide variety of fine dining experience, including Brazilian, New American, Italian and Mexican cuisines. For shopaholics, the neighborhood has a wide selection of men’s and women’s boutique, shopping centers, accessory stores and furniture shops.
